	Zombies ruin everything

Chapter 1

My best friend, Joshua, has no idea how I really feel about him. How could he? I never let on about how I truly feel. I wish he could just see past my exterior and finally just ask me out. We've been best friends for 7 years, and 5 of those years I've been in love with him. How does he not know?

I am walking up his steps and already my heart beats faster. I ring the doorbell and my breathing fastens. _Breathe Kayla _I tell myself. My breathing and heart beat slow down and I am ready to see him without having an attack. I hear someone walking to the door and I have to keep reminding myself to just calm down because as much as I want him to know I like him, I don't want him to know in case he doesn't feel the same way.

Why would he feel the same way about me? He is 6'1" while I am 5'5". He has short, spiky, black hair while I have medium, blonde hair. His eyes are a seducing brown while mine are a dull gray. He is athletic, handsome, and amazing. I never understood why he is friends with me but for whatever reason I am not complaining. My mother has always loved Joshua but my step-father for whatever reason never liked him. I don't know if its because he has a daddy issue or because he knows how I truly feel about Joshua and is scared.

I smile as the door slowly creaks open and his mother answers, "Kayla, dear. What are you doing here on a Sunday?" His mother was a medium height, she had a little weight but not much and she was stunning in a way that you never even knew she was almost 40. "Mrs. Jenkins, I was looking for Joshua. Is he here?"

"I'm sorry. Did he not tell you he was starting his new job this weekend?" she looked so proud. I do recall him mentioning it, but obviously I wasn't paying that much attention.

"Oh! I forgot. Will you tell him to call me when he gets home?"

"Of course dear, but could you do me a favor?" I nodded. "Stop calling me Mrs. Jenkins, it makes me feel old, call me Suzan."

"Yes ma'am." I exclaimed and turned around to leave when I noticed the blood on her back.
